cycle bridges of lake tisza

The design of Tisza lake bridges was managed by SPECIÁLTERV from feasability study phase till their construction in several project phases.

The „infinity” sinusoid arch form of Eger Creek Bridge and Szomokra Creek Bridge is unique to the world. Several innovative technical details had to be applied in order to achieve its final shape. Its structure is a lower deck and deck steel arch bridge with box cross-section bracing bracket with an ortothropic deck plate having nine supports.

The cycle&pedestrian bridge over River Tisza is a series of five arch bridges with ortothropic steel decks. The arches rest upon the extended pier caps of the road bridge, rendering it unnecessary to disturb the riverbed with new foundations. The wave motif is a dominant feature of the concept. The two side-spans are arched truss structures, while the mid-spans over the riverbed are tied-arch bridges. The arches rise 8.25 m above the deck level, and descend 2,73 m at the piers.

The fourth bridge along the road connecting Poroszló and Tiszafüred is located on the X. Canal of Lake Tisza. It is the first ‘Dutch-type’ bascule bridge in Hungary.

The bridges have since became popular tourist attractions and landmarks to the lake itself. They were recognized by prestigious professional associations and received a number of prestigious awards.
