robinson bridge

The ‘Robinson’ Bridge is a 168 m long cable-stayed steel bridge with an orthotropic steel deck accommodating a 7 m wide pedestrian walkway. The pylon rises 64 m above ground in its final position. The deck girder will be suspended on the pylon without any intermediate support. The deck is connected to the pylon by 53 cables, which are balanced by 3 stabilizing cables at the back of the pylon. The total weight of the steel structure is nearly 1 000 t. The slender design is achieved with tuned mass dampers to meet pedestrian comfort criteria.

The pylon stands alone on a small artificial island within the confluence of Danube’s Ráckevei-Soroksári branch, which is otherwise inaccessible to public - this is where the bridge got its name.
